What is Dokra?
Dokra is a lost form metal casting process that was founded in India over 4000 years ago. Since then it has been a tradition that is still maintained and continued today by some blacksmiths in the villages of West Bengal and Orissa. A separate casting mold is created by hand for each individual object, which is smashed after the firing process. This means that every metal part, no matter how small, is unique.
Handmade Dokra jewelry
From Dokra bracelets to Dokra necklaces to Dokra earrings – Dokra jewelry is traditionally handcrafted. The gold subtly shiny surface of the Dokra jewelry doesn’t tarnish, that’s why the dokra jewelry is a long-lasting and beautiful companion to you. The uniqueness of the Dokra gives you a special and individual note, which clearly stands out from all other types of jewelry.
Dokra jewelry from India
We have traveled to India and visited families who are keeping the Dokra tradition alive. The handcrafted Dokra jewelry is fairly produced and has a sustainable character. Every single piece of jewelry tells history and is part of a centuries-old tradition. We are grateful partners and look forward to representing the Indian Dokra tradition in the western world.
